Over 20 of the nations top prep school programs traveled to Albertus Magnus College (New Haven, CT) this weekend to compete in the 2013 National Prep Showcase, which serves as the annual start to the prep school basketball season. There was a total of 4 HEA alumni that participated in the event, all on Sunday afternoon. Lets take a look at how each of them played.
Blair Academy 74, Tilton School 71
Terance Mann – 6’5″, Guard, Tilton School – Mann matched up with class of 2014 guard Marial Shayok (Marquette commit), in what was one of the more high profile match ups of the event. Mann finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds in what was a highly competitive game from start to finish.
Our Savior New America 82, Vermont Academy 59
Christian Vital – 6’2″, Guard, Vermont Academy – Vital made an impressive NEPSAC debut, finishing with 24 points in a losing effort. Vital showed off his patented shooting range, connecting on a number of deep 3’s. Our Savior New America boasted an extremely talented roster, including Pittsburgh commit Damon Wilson and Cheick Diallo (#9 ranked player in the class of 2015).
Bruce Brown – 6’4″, Guard, Vermont Academy – Brown made what was perhaps the highlight of the tournament, with a loud one handed finish on the break over a contesting defender. Brown finished the game with 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Canarias Basketball Academy 73, Cushing Academy 67
Kimani Lawrence – 6’6″, Forward, Cushing Academy – Lawrence made his NEPSAC debut for the defending NEPSAC class AA champs. Cushing fell short to Canarias Basketball Academy of Spain, despite a 37 point, 8 rebound performance from Syracuse commit Kaleb Joseph.
