This past weekend Hoop Mountain hosted the 2013 Scholar Roundball Classic at Babson College. This event host the top academic prep schools. Although day 2 was cancelled due to inclement weather, a number of HEA alumni participated on day 1.
Cushing Academy defeated Champlain St. Lambert 61-55. Kaleb Joseph scored 20 points to lead all scorers in a win over one of Canada’s top prep programs. HEA alumnus Kimani Lawrence contributed with valuable minutes off the bench, and continues to improve his overall skill set. Look for Lawrence’s minutes and production to continue to grow throughout the season.
Vermont Academy fell short to Rivers School 85-66. Vermont Academy was without its two most talented front court players in Sedee Keita and KJ Santos. HEA alumnus Bruce Brown had a valiant effort in their absence. Brown scored an efficient 29 points, displaying an improved skill set to lead the Wildcats. Brown also solidified himself on the defensive end with a number of rebounds, steals, and blocked shots. Fellow HEA alumnus Christian Vital scored 25 points, hitting multiple shots from 3 point range.
