The 15u Mass Rivals squad continues to impress in what has become the norm playing up in the 17U division for local tournaments. This time the talented freshmen squad took on the challenge of playing against older competition in the 2013 BSS Summer Showdown, which took place this past weekend in Worcester, MA. This Mass Rivals squad features a trio of HEA alumni in Tomas Murphy, Eric D’Aguanno, and Sherron Harris.
On Saturday, Mass Rivals beat Blackstone Valley Chaos 68-54 and the Boston Warriors 68-30 to finish the day 2-0 in pool play, and advanced to the championship game. Mass Rivals got outstanding contributions from versatile forwards Tomas Murphy and Eric D’Aguanno, along with athletic guards Sherron Harris, Makai Ashton-Langford, and Saul Phiri. Forward Greg Kuakumensah added the highlight of the tournament with a monster dunk in day 1 action. On Sunday, Mass Rivals dominated the boards on their way to a 62-43 victory over Blackstone Valley Chaos in the championship game, earning its second 17U title of the season.
Lets take a look at what Mass Rivals program director Vin Pastore had to say about his young squad via the programs official Twitter @RivalsNation.
