Elite Week alumnus Tomas Murphy joined fellow alumni Eric D’Aguanno and Sherron Harris on an extremely talented Mass Rivals 15U squad. The new look 15U Rivals took part in the Rhode Island Hawks May Madness tournament this past weekend, and competed in the 17U bracket. Look for this squad to make some serious noise on the Adidas Grassroots Basketball Circuit with stops in Indianapolis and Vegas later this summer.
Lets take a look at how each of our alumni and their teams played over the weekend.
Tomas Murphy – 6’6″, Forward, Mass Rivals – Murphy is a long and versatile forward who brings an advanced offensive skill and rebounding to the Mass Rivals front court. Murphy helped pace his squad past RI Hawks 68-58, and BV Chaos 67-47, on the way to the championship game. Murphy displayed a nice inside out game, finishing with 15 points 7 rebounds and 10 points 7 rebounds in those contests. Murphy and his squad lost on a layup with 3 seconds left in the championship game against RI Hawks by the score 76-75. Murphy finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds in the title game.
Eric D’Aguanno – 6’3″, Forward, Mass Rivals – D’Aguanno has been a solid contributor for his 15U Rivals squad all season, and continued that trend over the weekend. D’Aguanno had performances of 12 points 8 rebounds, and 15 points 7 rebounds in the first two contest. D’Aguanno saved his best performance of the weekend when it counted the most, finishing with 19 points 9 rebounds in the championship game.
Sherron Harris – 6’0″, Guard, Mass Rivals – Harris continues to gain valuable experience playing against some of the top competition in the region. Harris had 8 points in his squads first contest, which he followed up with a 4 point 7 rebound performance in the second game. Harris contributed with 4 rebounds in the championship game.
Kendall Baldwin – 5’11”, Guard, Hoop City – Baldwin was playing up with the 16U Hoop City team out of Springfield, MA. Baldwin was a steady contributor in the backcourt all weekend long, helping Hoop City earn victories over West Hartford Magic, and Middlesex Magic, before falling to the RI Hawks in overtime.
