As summer comes to a close, HEA has selected its first annual summer awards.  These awards were selected based on how individuals played this summer.  Prospects had to be alumni of HEA Elite Week in order to be eligible.  Congratulations to all the regions players, and best of luck this upcoming school year.

Player of the Summer: Terance Mann

Mann had an extremely successful first season on the EYBL circuit.  The rising junior helped his BABC squad finish 11-7 in the regular season and earn an invitation to Peach Jam.  Mann was the second leading scorer for BABC at the Peach Jam, with averages of 11 points, 5 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists per game.  Mann currently holds offers from BC, Florida, George Washington, Georgetown, Iowa State, Miami, URI, and VCU.  Mann finished the summer ranked #41 (ESPN) #62 (Rivals) in the class of 2015.

Breakout Player of the Summer: Tomas Murphy

Perhaps no young player in the country received more attention than Murphy.  The 6’7″ forward received scholarship offers from BC, Florida, Maryland, Providence, and URI, all without having played a single high school game.

Play of the Summer: Unique McLean

The rising sophomore with a 43-inch vertical put on a show at Elite Week 2013.  McLean earns the Play of the Summer when he leaped over 6’5″ Terance Mann.  McLean holds offers from BU, Detroit, Siena, and St. Francis.

Defensive Player of the Summer: Bruce Brown

As the point man in BABC’s vaunted press defense, Brown caused havoc all summer long.  Be it a local or national event, Brown was the spearhead of what was one of the most dominant defensive teams in the region.  The 6’4″ guard will be attending Vermont Academy in the fall, and join the class of 2016.

Offensive Player of the Summer: Christian Vital

Vital showed off his scoring prowess throughout the summer while running with Team SCAN out of NY.  The 6’2″ combo guard earned national recognition with his versatile offensive skill set, with deep range on his jumper, and ability to slash to the hoop.  Vital holds offers from BU, Holy Cross, and VCU.
